Why I am pissed

I cannot get my royalty checks. They said they pay through PayPay. I have an account with them. No money was ever sent to me through Pay Pal. I finally earned a royalty check for 4th qtr. 2019. I still have not received it.

User's recommendation: 0 stars.

Do not use these "self-publishing" crooks. They do not report all sales and are therefore screwing their authors.

Cut your loss before you get in too deep. I am nearly $60.000 spent on projects to promote sells of my book, but my wife will not allow me to spend another penny.

The Bookstore reports no sale each quarter, even on the $10.000 projects. The wife and I almost divorced over my continue push to get book sales. $60.000 GONE!!!

Litfire Publishing called me around 5 months ago. Why the *** would any self publishing company do phone solicitation?

They claimed I contacted them before which I never did. Then they called me recently under the name GoToPublish. Fake names used by a phony company. Only in the United States could a company as dishonest and scammy as Litfire Publishing be legal.

They overcharge for everything too.

Save your money. This is as close to legalized fraud as u can get!!!

I agree with your comments concerning LitFire. They have charged me around $1500 US currency and have not sold one copy of my book in over one year since publication.

Writers Beware

The persons in charge of my book kept quitting, so I had three different Publishing Fulfillment Officers. They were nice, but they obviously didn't like their job. One quit after I had started editing my book. The person after her couldn't find the edited copy. So I had wasted my time editing. Then I had a medical emergency which led to the discovery of metastatic cancer. For a while I tried to get a hold of the last Publishing Fulfillment Officer, but she would not answer my emails. After I finished with chemo and radiation (which of course took months), I called Litfire many times. Not once did anyone answer the phone. They may be out of business. But in case they are still marketing, I want writers to know it is not safe to trust them!

Lit fire is a total ripoff

I have tried, but to no avail. They promised all manner of marketing benefits but cannot even publish a book. If I can find enough other authors I will mount a class action suit against them. At this time, they keep calling to harass me. They start out by sounding reasonable but then keep changing their contact. I am going public to help other authors avoid my grief. Most of my books have been published by CreateSpace, who is legitimate but provides few services. Currently, I am using Book Baby, who is legitimate. I would be happy to communicate my experience to other authors.

I am a longtime journalist. LitFire will only call to sell you a package or upgrade, but falls miserably on every aspect of publishing.

I cannot say enough bad about this company, for lack of a better term. They published my book after 10 edits with both cover and text, only finally succeeding upon my push and insistence. Nearly all the people who were with them during my publishing are gone. My issues have not been resolved and they out-and-out lie.

They are incompetent on the highest levels. Now, my book is not even on their book store, and people can't order it through Amazon and Barnes and Noble because they say they can't get books. LitFire denies this and claims it is not true. Yet, 6-8 people from different states have tried to order it with same negative results.

They seldom if ever answer their phones, and if they rarely do, they don't return calls. My horror story with them goes on and on. All authors BEWARE! And they will always leave an excuse that it is just disgruntled authors disappointed in sales, whatever.

They assume NO responsibility, and are only in it for the upfront sale, or upgrades. In the last two weeks I have called no less than one dozen times, for times today alone, increasing the number. The only way to ever reach a department would be through Sales, cause that's all they care about. Or billing, secondarily.

They are (lying) sellers, upgraders and not performers.

This company needs to go to the attorney general in Georgia, the publishing industry at large, and all other consumer agencies. And yes, I would join in a class action suit, and give written testimony, as well as a personal appearance--I am that mad!

#1530212

They will only call you if you shared your mobile with some officials in book industry or scouts. No one can take just like that your number and call it.Don't make any post that are not real and adequate on real situation with false allegation.

I'm a Published Author Being Harassed

My first book was self-published in 2012 through iUniverse who obviously sold my phone number. Eight years later I'm still being harassed by creeps who somehow get my personal information, without them doing the research to learn I'm a traditionally published author now. This company keeps calling me and I have never given them my phone number or authorized them to contact me. The messages sound pre-recorded. The fact that they would write a positive review about themself here and for the Better Business (and then say, "hey look at our positive reviews") is really classless. There are ethical ways to run a company and that includes not telemarketing (no ethical company on the planet does this in 2018) and not trying to mislead aspiring authors. If I had to do it over again I would only use Amazon to self-publish. They can at least be held accountable to a certain degree. These companies promise the world but deliver nothing. All of these companies have been around for over a decade and no one (out of hundreds of thousands of self-published authors) has accomplished anything unless they have done the work on their own. Every successful self-published author I'm aware of gets the credit for getting recognized in their own way. Usually by thinking outside of the box. If you are being harassed and know other self-published authors, talk to them about actual returns on their investments. Do not trust any of these companies. Most self-published authors fall for these scams at least once. Be the crafty one and don't. It'll save you hundreds or thousands of dollars in the end. Spend the money on self-hosting a WordPress blog and link it to Twitter. Then put in the time. It'll pay off in the long term.

Another false accusation with alleged "harassment".Bah

#1513868

The telemarketers are the problem. Rude, persistent, and dishonest.

#1513867

Same here. I wonder how they got my phone number?

I'm being stalked! How can these people call themselves a business?

#1479844

While I appreciate this author's review of the telemarketer from Litfire Publishing it appears that this author has done no actual business with this company and the rant - while is good advice - may or may not apply to this company at all.Do you or do you not have any actual experience to point to that Litfire Publishing is any good at what they claim to be - a self-publishing company? Or is your complaint that their self-marketing methodology is just bad customer service masquerading as marketing?

Litfire Publishing is trading stolen phone numbers including mine and then marketing me so yes I have had business dealings with them. Marketing is a part of the company and they have continued to harass since I have written this.

Because they are selling self-publishing doesn't mean the marketing itself is exempt from being included as a part of the company. There is clear case law in this area.

If you are unhappy with how some of your employees or contractors are engaging in business on your behalf then you should change the way you operate. It's easier to be professional rather than spending your time online afterwards trying to spin things--and talking in second person--when people are upset.
